Imagine: go deeper, wider, further…
I caught a snippet of this quote on Twitter this morning and went looking for the complete version:
Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.

I frequently notice how some people criticise those who apply instinct and imagination to their daily lives and instead quote statistics and ‘facts’ without really knowing what they mean or being able to apply them far and wide. I think there is a danger of being ‘stuck in facts’ without questioning them. It’s always seemed to me to be more progressive to look deeper, visualise further, and imagine how things could be different or better. I find imagining things to be a much much more thorough way of looking at the world.

Yes! And have you noticed how whether or not something ‘is real’/'really happened’ has become very important to people? Life-writing is massive at the moment and if you go to any reading by a novelist the autobiography question will pop up. It’s fiction, people. FICTION. It doesn’t have to be real.
Congratulations on the 200th entry! Impressive. And yes, I think imagination is the ‘fire’ that can light up a thousand years of cold, logical ‘ice’
I think that this is more profound than a lot of people will realize.
The thought of living without either instinct or imagination scares me almost as much as those two perfectly valid concepts seem to scare their detractors.
